Take a moment to lift the nation of Nicaragua in your prayers following four months of continued unrest and riots.
Since mid-April protests and riots have taken place throughout Nicaragua following changes to the country’s social security system. While many of the protests have been peaceful, there have been violent clashes, road blocks and looting as the Nicaragua political unrest enters its fourth month.
Throughout the riots, our local church partners have been assessing the situation and temporarily suspending or reducing their project activities in order to keep children safe. When projects haven’t been able to provide regular activities the staff and volunteers have providing food assistance to children and their families.
As the Nicaragua unrest continues, an increasing number of families are losing their livelihoods due to the impact the riots have had on the country’s economy. Latest reports from our church partners in Nicaragua suggest 883 compassion-supported families have lost their income.
Please be assured, we will contact you directly if your sponsored child has been impacted.
