How is Compassion’s COVID-19 Emergency Appeal different to sponsorship donations?

How is Compassion’s COVID-19 Emergency Appeal different to sponsorship donations?

Sponsorship donations are also being used at this time to meet the critical needs of children and their families, however they have a different core purpose:

  • Sponsorship funds allow our local church partners to provide long term, consistent support to children.
  • Donations from our COVID-19 Emergency Appeal will equip local churches in the hardest hit communities to respond quickly and flexibly to emergency situations.

Sponsorship funds also don’t go as far when used to meet the needs of individual families on a one-to-one basis, rather than for group activities at the Compassion project.

Donations to the COVID-19 Emergency Appeal will additionally be used to enable our church partners to go further, giving vital emergency support to children and families who are not already registered participants in Compassion’s programmes.
